TED Talk of the Week
Over the next few weeks, our TED Talks will focus on mindfulness and the importance of balance. This week, Richard Weller explores the benefits of sunlight. All the more reason to get out for a hike.
Thank you!
- Elaine and Sunshine, for organizing the teacher treat this week.

Classroom Library Inventory
All homerooms must complete the inventory process in the fall and spring of the school year. Now is the time for the spring inventory process. Here are the instructions: Classroom Libraries Inventory Instructions
This must be completed before June 8th as part of your checkout process.
If books are missing, work with your class to try and locate them. Then create an order form with any missing books to be ordered from the 2019/20 grade level budget.
Check Point Week
The “checkpoint" (midpoint) for quarter 4 of the school year is this week. Each quarter we designate a “checkpoint" time to encourage parents and teachers to communicate regarding any learning issues that may currently exist. Please reflect on how all of your students are doing and request a meeting with parents if there is a need. Now is the time to address concerns.
Updates From Mareena
Senior Walk - May 23rd
Similar to previous years, the seniors will walk through the campus as a final farewell. To help them celebrate their achievements, the ES students and staff are invited to fill the halls and wish them well. Students can make signs if they wish. We will share this information with parents, as well.
Note from Grade 12:
As this year’s grade 12 cohort prepares for graduation, they are excited about participating in the KISJ traditions instituted by previous graduating classes. One of those traditions is the senior walk. In their own words, here is what the senior walk means to them:
“I get to say final goodbyes to the times I spent in ES and MS in KIS. Receiving warm support from the K-8 graders will remind me of my time here and how much I grew over the eight years in KIS.”
“Walking through KIS will give me a reminder of what I have been through for the past years.”
“I've always seen the previous graduating class walking through the hallways and I can't believe how I'll be in that same position.”
Some of you may have taught and/or coached these students, and we kindly ask you and your students for your continued support in congratulating the class of 2019 on their accomplishment. The walk will start in the MS at 8:20 and make our way back through the ES probably around 8:30.
Thank you on behalf of the 2019 graduates and grade 12 advisors.
