June 4th to 9th

TED Talk of the Week
This TED Talk is a creative solution to the housing crisis.  This is the kind of probleming solving skills we are trying to instill in our students.

Thank you
  • All ES faculty for a successful DRAGONS Week!  We all know the effort it takes to ensure that our students have meaningful experiences outside of the normal classroom schedules.
  • Also, thank you all for continuing to demonstrate care and patience at this stressful time of year.  It is wonderful being on the same team with such professionals!
  • Joseph, Bin, and Bonnie for organizing the logistics of DRAGONS Week.
  • All teachers for completing your last report card comments of the school year!
  • Scott for helping on several DRAGONS Week excursions.  We look forward to integrating you more into the ES next year.
  • Renee and Sun for organizing the library in preparation of the 2018/19 school year.
  • Judy, Dana, Yena, Nancy, Bo, Alice, Min, June, and Lucy for supporting the students and teachers during this busy time of year.

Report Card Information
Once you are done editing the comments email Jim, Cynthia and Ryk (deadline 9:00 am Monday), who will also then make changes in Suggesting mode.
When approved, the HRT copies the comments into 5th column of Homeroom class (ES Grading and Powerschool - slide 29).
HRT should then do a report card check to make sure everything looks right (slide 21).
Team Leaders will do a final check and will email HRT to change things if there are any problems.

Perception Survey
Here is the KISJ Schoolwide Perception Survey link.  Please take a moment to complete the survey if you did not have time during the Friday division meeting. Your responses will be used to inform our school improvement plan and continuous self-study as part of the WASC accreditation process.

Spring Arts Day Plus Delta
I encourage you to fill out this form as you consider what went well and what could be improved for Spring Arts Day next year.

Principal Feedback Survey Results
Here is the link to the results from the survey.  Thank you for providing this valuable feedback. Based on this survey, I have identified two areas for growth next year.  1) Increase transparency about how and why decisions are made. 2) Ensure staff and students are clear about expectations around management procedures, discipline, and student behavior routines/consequences.

Important Phone Numbers
Here is a document you can print and have by your classroom phone.  The IT dept is working to ensure all phones in the ES work or are installed.
