The TED Talk for this week is a must watch for all educators and parents. It is a shocking look at how the brains of our students are being hacked for advertising revenue.
Thank you
- Allan, Feliz, Judy, Eric, Jordanna, Mareena, and Rhys for coaching our 2nd season of ES sports!
- Margaret and Sarah, for opening your classrooms and sharing how your students are using iPads. Thank you also to all of the K-2 teachers that have been providing feedback for the iPad research project for Amos and Angela for helping with the teacher interview.
- The ECE team and Francis, for helping cover additional duties to support students.
- Yena for taking on an additional duty that was left open due to some scheduling changes.

Principal Academic Leadership Survey
Thank you to all who have filled out this survey so far. This is the last chance to fill out this anonymous survey if you have not.
Teacher Appreciation Lunch
Our ES teachers are extremely dedicated to our students. They wake up in the morning thinking about student learning, teach all day, then go to sleep thinking of ways to challenge our students. Our parent community would like to show you how much they appreciate you. On December 7th at 12:30 the ES Parents have planned a special Teacher Appreciation Lunch. All ES teachers and staff are invited to the ES PAC for a delicious lunch. The remainder of the day will be allocated to team planning and entering assessments on PS.
Curriculum Updates From Ryk
Jennifer Seravallo worked at Teachers College for 8 years and is now an independent author of over a dozen books on reading and writing, especially focusing on elementary school. Jennifer also provides extensive PD opportunities, both on-site and on-line. Here is a link to Heninmann.com where her current PD offerings are listed. The on-line PD offerings look especially interesting. If you are interested, get your PD request in to KISJ today as it is the last day for Semester 2 PD requests.
The application link can be found on this KISJ Intranet site. You would have received an email from Rick Odum on November 20 telling you that requests for Semester 2 trainings/workshops/PD events, etc, are due by November 27. That’s not far away. To help you plan, I direct you to a few useful sites to find possible and appropriate events.
MyPL@KIS - This site is in our KISJ Intranet. It has many event opportunities as well as most of the links listed here.
The Professional Learning Hub @NIST - These events are hosted at NIST International School, Bangkok.
The Teachers College at Columbia University, NY, has many upcoming events, though I am not aware that they have released their summer institute dates yet
If anyone has other links to events please email them to me and I can share them out.

Associate Principal Academic Leadership Survey
Thank you for filling in this additional AP feedback form. Your feedback is valuable, and I will use it to inform the details of my personal goal.
The goal of this anonymous survey is to support the professional development of your divisional leaders, so constructive commentary on strengths and areas of improvement is welcome. This survey includes questions that are based on Kim Marshall's Leadership Evaluation Rubrics. The rubrics also provide matching descriptions for each standard. Thank you for participating.
Communication in the ES
Your feedback is appreciated as the ES strives to improve communication. As always, submissions are confidential. I have posted the QR code on my office door for continued feedback as the year progresses.
