TED Talk of the Week
As we continue to focus on mindfulness and the importance of balance. I invite you to Experience the Underwater World Through the Eyes of a Free Diver.
Thank you!
- ES Teaching Assistants and Ryk for organizing and proceeding with the classroom library inventories.
- Sara, and Theresa, for leading the Class Placement DRAGON Dialogue this week. You have helped ensure emotional safety in our parent community.
- Tessa, Dona, and Joseph, for organizing the JK parent tea. This was a great opportunity for our community to come together around student learning.
- Tess, Bo, and Joseph for inviting parents in for the 2A Readers Theather "Don't Wake the Mummy."
Exit Interview Invitation
I would like to invite all departing faculty for an exit interview. The purpose of an exit interview is to gain feedback in order to improve the ES. Here is a list of questions you can choose to answer during the exit interview.
- What was the best part of your job here?
- Why did you decide to leave?
- How would you describe the culture of the ES?
- If you could change anything about KISJ, what would you change?
- Did you feel you had the tools, resources, and working conditions to be successful in your role? If not, which areas could be improved and how?
- Do you have any other issues or comments you would like to address?
Principal Surveys
If you have not already completed these surveys, please do. We sincerely appreciate the time you take to fill this out. The comments that you write are read and provide a way for you to elaborate on the skills for that section. This section is optional, but do note that we reflect on the content here as it is often more insightful than just the checked skills.

Class Placement spreadsheet
HR and ELL teachers should have class spreadsheets completed by 4PM on Tuesday, May 14th. This timeline is to allow for time to prepare the cards that will be used for creating class lists in grade levels May 20th-23rd.
Spring Arts Day - Note from Layne
Spring Arts Day is coming up very soon! We would like to share some resources that might help the students feel more prepared for their choral concerts. If you can find a convenient time and way that won't distract them from their learning, please feel free to play the recordings, post the lyrics to the board, or allow them to sing the songs. The recordings and lyrics sheets can be found here. Thank you for your support!
Senior Walk - May 23rd
Ed Lehmann has shared some information about the seniors that we will be celebrating during the walk on the morning of the 23rd. The purpose is to celebrate the achievement of our students. The spreadsheet information can be used to tell your students a little bit about the students. The team is considering ways to help connect these seniors with our ES students in the future years.
The seniors will be walking through the ES around 8:30. Teachers and students should line the hallways. Students can create signs to hold with well wishes for the seniors.
Once the route is confirmed, we will let you know where to stand! The procession will not last long, and we appreciate your support of this tradition that is really meaningful for the seniors.
Girls Power Hour 5k
On Thursday, May 16th the Girls Power Hour elective will be completing a 5K together. Students in this elective will eat snack together, in order to have enough time to complete the course. Teachers, please let these students come to the ES office at 2:30 with all of their things.
If any teachers who do not have an elective want to join to walk or jog with the girls, please let Jessica or Mareena know! We would love for you to join us!
