Thank you
- Ryk, for Presenting at the DRAGON Dialogue, “Understanding MAP.” You are helping to build a common understanding among our parent community.
- Francis and G1A, students for performing at the DRAGON Dialogue this week.
- All ES, for getting students out of the building in less than 3 minutes! Not bad for an unexpected fire drill.
- Allan and Francis for opening up a new musical in Q4! Our G2 students are super excited about this.
Congratulations
Please join me in congratulating Laris as he joins the MS faculty. He will be teaching 6-8 Design Thinking & Technology classes and be a member of the grade 6 team for the remainder of this academic year.
Communication in the ES
This week we had almost 100 parents come to the Understanding MAP DRAGON Dialogue. This was a perfect opportunity for them to learn about how MAP can identify areas for students to improve in.
From the Suggestion Box
It would be nice to have a survey for teachers about the parent's night. I agree, it is important to receive input from everyone to make this night even better. Teams were asked to complete the Parent Information Night Feedback, Plus Delta document.

Updates From Mareena
Quarter 1: Focus on Communication!
Child Protection course
Once finished, please place your certificate in this folder. Reminder that everyone should complete the training before 12:30PM on September 26th.
Fire Drill
September 28th 10:15 AM - don’t announce to students
Field - Green Beads
Please speak to your students about not eating the green beads on the field.
Duty Schedule - rain
We’ve updated the duty schedule to reflect the change for the morning rain plans. Please check that you’re aware of where to be. The assignments were made based on those that would have recess duty eliminated later in the day due to rain.
Please ensure that your duties are included on your substitute requests. The best way would be to add your weekly duties to the bottom of your emergency plans.
Communication grades for Q1 electives should be added to the spreadsheet above by October 4th. Outside instructors grades will be added by this date by the ES office.
Faculty Bathrooms
Please note that staff should not use student bathrooms in any part of campus. The bathroom by the cafeteria is NOT a staff bathroom. The closest option is on the ground floor of the middle school building. The adult bathrooms inside of the ES are labeled. If you see students entering these, please direct them to the student bathrooms.
Classroom door windows
Please make sure your classroom door windows are not blocked by anything. Nothing should cover or impede the ability to see inside. This is a student safety consideration.
Upcoming Faculty events
Saturday, October 20:
Your Leadership Team would like to invite you to decompress after the busy Family Weekend by joining them for pizza and beer following the close of the weekend. 3:15 to 4:15 on the HS rooftop if it rains we will be in the HS Mini Pac
Teacher Appreciation Dinner(s)
This year, in order to address the complications of space and child care, we will be honoring teachers in divisional celebrations instead of a school-wide party. We hope that this will allow more teachers to plan to be a part of this annual event that is intended to pay tribute to the commitment that teachers at KISJ show every day.
Please mark your calendars for the following:
Elementary School: February 15th or 16th
Middle School: January 25th or 26th
High School: February 23
